DFE Updates
The government revokes important provisions of the schools bill. Academies Minister Baroness Barran stated in a letter to peers that the government will “remove clauses 1 to 4 and schedule one from the bill.” These sections deal with academy regulation and a potential government authority to establish extensive new criteria for academies. The government is also in favour of removing sections 5 through 18, which deal with how academy funding agreements can be terminated. A DfE spokesperson said that the department is “supporting the temporary removal of clauses 1 to 18 from the bill, in advance of bringing back revised clauses later in the bill’s passage through parliament”.

National Tutoring Programme
The National Tutoring Programme (NTP) digital service is a topic on which the DfE is interested in hearing from primary and secondary school teachers and senior leaders.
